Invasion U.S.A. (1952 film)

Invasion, U.S.A. aka Invasion USA is a 1952 film based on a story by Robert Smith and Franz Spencer, and is directed by Alfred E. Green. The film stars Gerald Mohr, Peggie Castle and Dan OHerlihy. Invasion, U.S.A. is set in the Cold War and portrays the invasion of the United States by an unnamed Communist enemy meant to be taken as the Soviet Union. The film is unrelated to the 1985 Chuck Norris film of the same name.

The Enemy is never named but is possibly meant to be taken as the Communist Soviet Union, given their approach through Alaska, pseudoSlavic accents, Peoples Army proclamations, and use of Soviet fighter aircraft Yakovlev Yak17s and MikoyanGurevich MiG15s and Tupolev Tu4 bombers, a clone of the American Boeing B29 Superfortress. Principal photography began in early April 1952 at Motion Picture Center Studios.Much of the films running time is taken up with inconsistent combat stock footage. This is relatively aseptic, and sometimes unintentionally humorous American Fairchild C82 Packet transports drop enemy paratroopers on Washington, D.C. However these troops are disguised as an American Airborne unit so the aircraft may be part of the act. Some of the individual encounters between The Enemy and Americans are typical of Red Scare material of the time. ........
